The history of this event is almost as rich as the flavor of a good brisket - nearly 3 decades of incredible food, tourists from all over the country coming into our beautiful city, and hundreds of thousands of dollars given back to charity each year.
Paducah is well-known for its Barbecue, even outside of festivals and events like this one. All of our local BBQ restaurants make great pit-stops if you're craving some high-quality pork before this year's festivities. Check out this article from Paducah.Travel to see our favorite local spots, as well as a couple of great downtown shops where you can stock up on your own grilling supplies and become a pit master yourself.
Last year was the first year for BBQ on the River to return after a long Covid hiatus, and although it included a minor venue change, it was one of our largest and most successful years ever! WPSD reported that the local Paducah festival raised over $400,000 for charities in just that one September weekend! Over 77 charities benefitted last year as a result of the BBQ festival, and just as many (if not more) are slated to benefit this year. Everything from local humane societies, to disaster relief, to our local shelters get to be beneficiaries as a result of the generosity of our city and its patrons.
While you're making plans to visit this year, make sure to check out the local transportation and parking options, and hop aboard the free trolley if you get a chance! Check out the routes and times here: FREE PUBLIC TROLLEY ROUTES
